sixspace is a contemporary art gallery that opened in Chicago (1998)
and relocated to Los Angeles in the fall of 2002. Housed in a former
textile warehouse, the beautiful 2000 square foot space has become one
of the most forward-thinking galleries in the United States. sixspace
showcases artists who are unique, pushing boundaries, and breaking the
mold -- in other words, artists whose aesthetic is the future face of
the art world.
For The Stray Show sixspace will be exhibiting works by artists who are
exploring the impact of popular culture through various mediums such
as painting, drawing, and embroidery. In a range of styles ranging from
illustration to figurative oil painting, most of the artists are from
Los Angeles, reflecting the new aesthetic coming from Southern California.
Artists are: the Clayton Brothers, Richard Colman, Donovan Crosby, Seonna
Hong, Martin Ontiveros, Chad Robertson, Rachell Sumpter, Andrew Sutherland,
Megan Whitmarsh, and Mr. Florencio Zavala.
